GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Freshman 
Francesca Garison (Metuchen, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) posted a season-high 20 kills and added 13 digs as Gettysburg College took out Washington College 3-1 in a Centennial Conference volleyball match inside Bream Gym Saturday afternoon.
 
Gettysburg (8-4, 2-0 CC) won the first (25-22), second (26-24), and fourth sets (25-16), while Washington (6-4, 1-1 CC) took set three 25-21.
 
The Bullets led throughout the opening set and took a 9-5 advantage on a kill by Garison. The Shorewomen steadily closed the gap and pulled even at 16-16 on an ace by Emily Houck. Gettysburg rebounded with the next three points, including two kills by Garison to regain the momentum on the way to the win.
 
Washington was all set to tie the match with a 24-22 lead in the second set. The hosts never blinked as freshman 
Kasey Higgins (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) put down a kill to regain the serve. Following an attack error which tied the score, junior 
Katherine Gilbert (Baltimore, Md./Notre Dame Prep) served up an ace and Garison polished off the win with a kill.
 
The Shorewomen seized the upper-hand late on the way to victory in the third set, but Gettysburg stormed in front to begin the fourth. The Bullets jumped out to an 11-3 lead and never looked back in closing out the decision.
 
Garison topped her previous collegiate high by two kills and recorded her third double-double of the season. Higgins picked up nine kills and junior 
Maddie Weikert (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) logged eight kills and 13 digs.
 
Junior 
Stephanie Blair (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) posted 36 assists and 18 digs for the Bullets. Gilbert put up 19 digs, while junior 
Lauren Godshalk (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) recorded five aces and four blocks.
 
Lizzie Baden led Washington with 18 kills. Cassie Kowalski and Alaina Geissberger tallied 12 and 10 kills, respectively, while Taylor Horan went for 43 assists and 21 digs.
 
Gettysburg picks up action next Saturday at Haverford College. The Bullets face the host Fords in a Centennial Conference meeting at noon before taking on Cabrini College at 2 p.m.
