Â
Senior center
Mlynue Reeves (Washington, D.C./Church Farm School [Pa.]) added 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting while making a career-high five blocked shots. Senior guard
Pete Christ (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) also scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers during the team's game-ending run. Christ turned in a perfect shooting night, going 4-for-4 from the field, 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, and 4-for-4 at the foul line.
Â
Senior forward
Cody Kiefer (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) tied a season-high with 10 rebounds and handed out six assists for Gettysburg, which withstood a 30-point night from McDaniel's Josh McWilliams.
Â
The Bullets led just 58-52 with 6:42 left after a McWilliams 3-pointer. But that's when Christ knocked down back-to-back treys as Gettysburg doubled its lead with 4:47 left.
Â
McWilliams hit a pair of free throws with 4:18 remaining to make it 64-54, but those would turn out to be the visitors' final points of the night. A Reeves tip-in pushed the Bullets lead back to 12 with 3:55 left before Christ provided the dagger, draining his final triple with 1:44 left.
Â
The Bullets were also hot from long distance in the early going, making their first three 3-point attempts, with two coming from freshman guard
Nick Lord (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor). A Reeves free throw gave the Bullets a 12-6 lead three minutes into the game, but the Green Terror climbed back into it with a 7-0 run to go up by one. However, it would be McDaniel's only lead of the night.
Â
Gettysburg ran off the next eight points, and it was the start of a 17-4 Bullet run. Kirkpatrick fueled the outburst for the Orange and Blue, scoring 11 points, including eight in a row at one point. His 3-pointer with 8:36 on the clock made it a 29-17.
Â
McDaniel chipped away at the deficit, however, and a 7-2 run made it 34-27 with 3:50 on the clock. The Green Terror then used an 8-2 surge to close the half and cut the lead to 38-35 at the break.
Kirkpatrick led the Bullets with 11 points at the half while McWilliams scored 17 points for McDaniel.
Â
Gettysburg nudged its lead back to seven on a Lord free throw two minutes into the second half, but an 8-3 McDaniel surge made it a two-point game (47-45) with 12:15 to go. A McWilliams four-point made it 51-49 with 10:27 showing, but that's as close as the Green Terror would get, as the Bullets held McDaniel to 29.2 percent shooting in the second half.
Â
The Bullets continue their three-game homestand on Saturday, when they take on Washington College at 3 p.m.
