GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's soccer team limited Haverford to four shots on goal, but the Fords scored on two of them, handing the Bullets a 2-0 setback in Centennial Conference (CC) action on Saturday at Clark Field.
Haverford (6-3-2, 3-1-1 CC) received all of the offense it would need when Hannah Krapes scored in the eighth minute, heading in a free kick from Sydney West. The Fords would outshoot Gettysburg 4-2 in the opening half, although the Bullets held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Fords added an insurance tally when Sklyer Ellenburg took a cross from West and fired a shot inside the left post in the 72nd minute.
Both sides finished with three shots in the second half. Gettysburg earned five more corner kicks to finish with a 9-3 advantage for the game.
Freshman
Kerry Sammon (Pearl River, N.Y./Academy of the Holy Angels) finished with two saves for the Bullets while Julie Hanss needed to make just one stop to earn the shutout for the Mules.
Gettysburg picks up its schedule when it visits Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference affair on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
