Cameron Stewart '18 turned in a dozen points against Dickinson.
Box Score

GETTYSBURG, Pa. Elijah Wright knocked down two free throws with three seconds left and senior Pete Christ's (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) last-second three-point attempt was off the mark as Dickinson College slipped past Gettysburg College 59-57 in Centennial Conference men's basketball action inside Bream Gym Wednesday night.

Gettysburg (7-15, 6-10 CC) was led by senior Mlynue Reeves (Washington, D.C./Church Farm School (Pa.)) with 18 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and four blocked shots. The assist total was a career high for the senior center, who netted 18 or more points for the fourth time in five games. Junior Cameron Stewart (Sydney, Australia/Newington College) added a dozen points and five rebounds, while senior Cody Kiefer (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) and Christ each tallied nine points.

Moses Romocki led Dickinson (13-9, 10-5 CC) with 13 points. Wright finished with 11 points, including five in the final 1:41. Jule Brown (nine points), Michael Jurzynski (eight points), and Mike Hinckley (seven points) helped the Red Devils' bench out-score the Gettysburg reserves 27-5.

The Bullets led throughout the first half after opening the game with a three-pointer by Stewart and a lay-up by Reeves. The Red Devils stayed within striking distance and trailed just 19-17 following a putback by Romocki with 6:16 remaining in the first half.

Gettysburg busted loose for an 11-2 run and took its largest lead of the game at 30-19 on a lay-up by freshman guard Danny Duffey (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) with 2:32 before halftime. Dickinson countered with a pair of three-pointers by Brown as part of an eight-point spurt to slice the deficit down to three (30-27) at the break.

After Gettysburg went ahead by seven (42-35) on a lay-up by Stewart, the Red Devils dropped in seven-straight points and forced a 42-all tie on a pair of free throws by Wright with 10:42 to go. The Bullets regained the lead on a three-pointer by Alec Warren (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and a lay-up by Reeves to make it 47-42 with less than 10 minutes left.

The hosts remained in front by a possession for most of the remaining time until the final two minutes. After a free throw by Wright cut the deficit to two, Michael Jurzynski knocked down a fade-away jumper from the block to tie the game 55-55 with 1:26 left.

Reeves knocked down a pair of free throws on Gettysburg's ensuing possession, but Wright came right back to tie the game by dropping in a lay-up at the other end with 50 seconds on the clock. A turnover by the Bullets set the stage for Wright to make a hard charge to the rim in the final seconds, which resulted in a foul and the game-winning free throws.

Gettysburg was able to throw the ball to half-court and call timeout with two seconds left. The in-bounds pass went to Christ whose ensuing shot from the left wing was on target but sailed long by a few inches.

Gettysburg finished 20-of-41 (48.8 percent) and 12-of-15 (80 percent) from the free throw line. Dickinson was 21-of-57 (36.8 percent) and 12-of-16 (75 percent) at the charity stripe. Gettysburg owned a 31-27 advantage on the glass.

Gettysburg faces Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 3 p.m.
