WESTMINSTER, Md. – Senior
Connor Tom (Reinholds, Pa./Conrad Weiser) broke the game open with a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning, sparking a late offensive surge as Gettysburg secured a 14-6 Centennial Conference (CC) victory at McDaniel Friday afternoon.
It was just a 2-2 game heading into the seventh before Tom's blast. The Bullets (22-13-2, 10-6 CC) put it out reach with a seven-run eighth and another run in the ninth to make it 14-2.
McDaniel (13-20, 5-11 CC) set the final score with four runs off three relievers in the bottom of the ninth.
Gettysburg now finds itself alone in second place in the Centennial Conference standings heading into the final day of the regular season.
