GETTYSBURG, Pa. – After a strong dual meet season, the Gettysburg College men's and women's swimming teams will look to continue their successful 2017-18 campaign when they travel to Franklin & Marshall College for the Centennial Conference Championships this week.

The four-day event will be held from Thursday through Sunday in the McGinness Pool at the Kunkel Aquatic Center, beginning with a finals session Thursday night at 7:00. The meet will continue with a trials and finals session during each of the last three days, with trials beginning at 10 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.

Gettysburg's men's team posted an 8-1 dual-meet record this past year, including a 5-1 mark in Centennial Conference meets. The Bullet women went 7-3 and 5-2 in conference action during the season.

The men's team has won a conference-leading 14 crowns. The Bullets captured six titles in a row from 2011-16 before taking second to Swarthmore College last year. The women's team also leads the conference with 14 championships and has placed second in three of the last four years since winning three straight titles from 2011-13. Gettysburg's men's team has won six more conference titles than other school while the women's squad has claimed 10 more crowns than any other team.

Prior to the scratch deadline, Gettysburg's men were seeded first in nine of 18 events and are ranked first or second in four of the five relays.

Senior
Ty Dougherty (West Chester, Pa./Salesianum School [Del.]) fronts the men's team, as he enters the meet as the top seed in the 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle, and 100-breaststroke. He has captured the conference title in all three events in each of the past two seasons, and he was the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2016 championship. An eight-time All-American, he is the Gettysburg record-holder in the 100-breaststroke (56.06).

Four other Bullets enter the meet as the top seed, including sophomore
Ogden Leyens (Fort Washington, Pa./Upper Dublin), who captured both the Most Outstanding Performer and Outstanding Rookie Performer at last year's championship. He owns the conference's top time for the season in the 200-freestyle, and he is also ranked second in the 500-freestyle and third in the 100-freestyle. Last year, Leyens took home five gold medals, including individual titles in the 200-, 500-, and 1,650-frees. He holds Gettysburg records in all three events (1:38.53, 4:31.56, and 15:51.33, respectively) in addition to the 1,000-freestyle (9:37.92). Leyens also owns the Centennial Conference record in the 200 (1:38.53) and was an All-American in the event last season.

Sophomore
Adam Dias (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) enters the meet as the top seed in the 200-breaststroke as does freshman
Jack Edelson (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Senior) in the 200-butterfly and sophomore
Jeff Ragatz (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield) in the 200-backstroke. Dias is the reigning conference champion in the 200-breast, and he also holds the school record in the event (2:04.16).

Edelson is also seeded second in the 200-IM and third in the 100-butterfly while Ragatz is third in the 100-backstroke. In addition, freshman
Oliver Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) is ranked second in the 400-IM.

In the relays, Gettysburg is seeded first in the 400-freestyle and 800-freestyle, second in the 200-medley and 400-medley, and third in the 200-freestyle.

On the women's side, sophomore
Kate Crilly (Shrewsbury, N.J./Ranney School) enters the meet seeded among the top-three in all three of her events. She is the top-ranked swimmer in both the 50-freestyle and 100-freestyle, and she is also third in the 200. Crilly took home the bronze in both the 50 and the 100 at last year's conference meet.

Several additional Bullets could be poised for a big meet, including freshman
Sydney Jaramillo (Woolwich Township, N.J./Kingsway Regional), who is ranked among the top-five in three different events. She is seeded second in the 200-IM, third in the 400-IM, and fifth in the 200-butterfly.

Senior
Savannah Llewellyn (Plainfield, N.J./Plainfield) also carries a top-five seed in multiple events, as she is ranked second in the 100-backstroke and fourth in the 100-butterfly. She owns the school record in both events (57.42, 100-back; 57.16, 100-fly).

Junior
Sadie Stiles (Cape Elizabeth, Maine/Cape Elizabeth) could also pose a threat to medal, as she enters the meet as the No. 4 seed in the 100-breaststroke.

In the relays, Gettysburg is seeded second in the 200-medley, third in the 400-medley, third in the 200-freestyle, and third in the 400-freestyle.
