HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Gettysburg College women's tennis team closed its spring trip with a 7-2 setback at the hands of Concordia (Wis.) University on Thursday.
 
Gettysburg (1-5) scored its first victory at No. 2 doubles as junior Maria Martinovic (Lawrence Township, N.J./Princeton Day School) teamed up with freshman Shaye Barnes (Rye, N.Y./Rye) for an 8-6 decision.
 
Freshman Amanda Vinges (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) picked up the team's lone victory in singles action. Vinges improved to 6-0 this season with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Hannah Tresedder at the third flight.
 
Despite opening-set victories, both Martinovic and sophomore Samantha Boardman (Greenwich, Conn./Brooks School) were upended in third-set tiebreakers at the top two singles positions.
 
Gettysburg returns north to face Hood College in a non-conference match on Friday, March 23, at 2 p.m.
