WINCHESTER, Va. – The Gettysburg College volleyball team made short work of host Shenandoah University with a clean sweep in a non-conference match Wednesday night.

Match Summary
  • Set 1: Gettysburg took the early lead before a three-point run by Shenandoah made it 9-8 in favor of the hosts. A kill by Kuba-McCoy kicked off a seven-point run ending with back-to-back aces by Ellis. The Bullets jumped in front by as many as eight (20-12), but the Hornets rallied to pull within a point at 23-22. A quick-set by Ellis to sophomore middle hitter Ingrid Bayer (Falls Church, Va./Bishop O'Connell) put the ball back in Gettysburg's court and Ellis polished off the victory with another ace.
  • Set 2: The Bullets made the early lead stick in the second set, expanding an 8-7 lead to 11-8 on a kill by Kuba-McCoy. A kill by Ellis would make it 20-12 later in the set and Gettysburg would finish strong with the final three points.
  • Set 3: Shenandoah held the advantage early in the final contest and went ahead 11-10 on a kill by Poppo. The Bullets responded with a 10-3 run, taking advantage of eight different errors by the hosts to pull ahead 21-14. Horowitz put down the final two kills to seal the 25-21 win.
 
Where the Series Stands Now
Gettysburg improved to 10-1 against Shenandoah. The Bullets have won the last six meetings with the Hornets, including three sweeps.
