How It Happened…
  • First Quarter: Both Ursinus goals came during scrums in front of the cage. Caputo stopped a shot attempt by Gabriela Howell, but Dufoe was right there to stick the ball into the goal just over five minutes into the game. Five minutes later, the Bears capitalized on another quick series off a penalty corner. Dufoe tried to knock the loose ball in, but junior defender Maeve Dwyer (Skillman, N.J./Montgomery) stopped the attempt. The ball stayed in front of the goal and Rothschild slipped in for the score.
  • Second Quarter: Gettysburg dialed up the attack, while the defense held Ursinus without a shot or penalty corner in the period. The Bullets put five shots on goal, but Frey made four saves and Erin McIlhenny tallied a defensive stop.
  • Third Quarter: The hosts continued to press the advantage and out-shot Ursinus 9-1. Frey picked up six saves, including two by Beccaria and Bertrando in the final 1:04 of the period to preserve the 2-0 lead.
  • Fourth Quarter: Gettysburg saw two opportunities to get on the board early in the fourth quarter, but once again Frey was in the way, knocking away a shot by junior Allison Cavicchio (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) before stonewalling a rocket by sophomore Madeleine Pagliaro (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) in the 50th minute. Erin Saybolt provided the final score with a hot shot from the wing at 52:46.

  • The Bullets forced 14 penalty corners to Ursinus' five.
