Game Summary
  • First Quarter: Gettysburg scored less than five minutes into the game following a penalty corner. Bertrando took the initial pass from the top of the arc and smashed a hard shot in the direction of the cage. Fraiman was posting up in front of the goalie and redirected the ball for a goal at 4:46. Besselman stopped a shot on goal by Paulson in the 12th minute, while Sponaugle kept the one-goal differential by sweeping a shot by Fraiman off the line with 28 seconds left in the opening period.
  • Second Quarter: Besselman came up with another stop early in the second quarter to keep the Bullets in front. With 5:15 to go, Bertrando dropped a quick pass off the Beccaria in the center of the arc. The senior quickly turned and sent the shot low into the cage for a 2-0 lead in the 25th minute. Just after the goal, McDaniel was penalized for an illegal substitution and as the team captain, Smith was pulled from the goal to serve a five-minute penalty. In a show of sportsmanship, Gettysburg refrained from attacking the open goal for the remainder of the period.
  • Third Quarter: Smith stopped five shots by Gettysburg in the second half, including a shot by Beccaria in the 41st minute and a shot by Betrando in the 44th minute. Bessleman tallied a save on a shot by Paulson in the 36th minute.
  • Fourth Quarter: Bertrando tied the program record for assists in a game with a sensational pass from the right baseline to Beccaria, who was wide open for the quick tap inside the far post at 50:04. Bessleman picked up a pair of saves in the following minutes, the last coming on an attempt by Olivia Vanreusel in the 54th minute. Fraiman wrapped up the scoring by driving around the right side and sending a hard shot past Smith with 36 seconds left.
