2020-21 ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award List
 
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Gettysburg College baseball team received the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) for the second consecutive season it was recently announced.
 
Gettysburg has gone back-to-back in claiming the team academic award from the ABCA for the first time since 2016 and 2017. The Bullets knocked out a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.315 during the 2020-21 academic year. The squad was at its best during the its competition schedule, logging a team GPA of 3.394 during the spring semester.
 
Individually, 28 baseball players recorded GPAs of 3.5 or higher during the spring semester. Four of those student-athletes logged perfect 4.0s. Earlier this spring, 16 student-athletes were named to the Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll.
 
Coaches were able to nominate their teams for the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award following the conclusion of their spring semesters prior to the nomination deadline of July 12. To be honored, teams had to meet the following criteria:
 

• Must be a high school or college team
• Head coach must be a current ABCA member
• Team must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.0 scale during the 2020-21 academic year

 
Gettysburg went 4-10 in a season limited to conference play due to the pandemic. Head Coach John Campo is entering his 36th season at Gettysburg in 2021-22. Campo is the program's all-time leader in victories with 626.
