How it Happened
First Half: The first several minutes remained quiet between the Bullets and Spartans until the 15:49 marker. Freshman Jordan Weinberg (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) made the most of her home debut as she fed a perfect pass from the right side of the field to Schaefer, who had a defender on her, headed the ball that tipped off the goalkeepers hands into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. York looked to tie the game up in the final five minutes of the first half, but the shot was blocked, giving the Bullets the 1-0 advantage at halftime.
Second Half: As the second half started, so did the misty rain, which didn't slow down the intensity of the game. Four minutes into the half, a deflected ball off a Gettysburg defender set up Jenna Cholowinski as she rocketed a long left-footed shot into the upper right corner of the net to tie it up at 1-1. Gettysburg took six shots after that, with four coming from Muskus, before providing what held up as the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute. Muskus dribbled down the middle of the field out hustling a York defender as the goalkeeper came out of the box and faked her out for the easy tap into the net. Neither team backed down for the remainder of the contest. Cholowinski had an opportunity to tally her second goal of the night in the 86th minute, but it was blocked by the stalwart Gettysburg defense.
