THE REST OF THE STORY
• Gettysburg and Swarthmore stayed within two points early in the first set, with Swarthmore leading 12-10. The Garnet went on a 9-3 run to increase their lead to 21-13, and they would not give it up the rest of the set. Though the Bullets managed four more points, Swarthmore was able to get to set point on a Bullets' attack error, and a kill by Jordan Perry won the set for them.
• The second set saw the teams again staying close, with a maximum gap of three points that eventually narrowed to a tie as late as 18-all. The Garnet began to pull away with a 5-4 run, and got to set point on a Bullets service error to make the score 24-22. A kill by
Zanze Kuba-McCoy put the Bullets within one again, but Trisha Razdan hammered one home to claim set two for the Garnet.
• In set three, it was the Bullets who ran ahead, getting out to a lead as big as ten points, 19-9. The Bullets got the set point on a 5-7 run, with the Garnet trailing with 16 points. A five-point run put Swarthmore within three, but a block by
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J/Colts Neck) and
Catherine Holtz (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) put the Bullets on the board.
• In the final set, Swarthmore sped out to a 9-2 lead, before the Bullets tallied six to Swarthmore's two to make the score 11-8. The Garnet would not relinquish their lead the whole set, however, going 11-8 to yield a 22-16 score. The Bullets found two more points on a
Zanze Kuba-McCoy kill and a BHE from the Garnet, but ultimately a kill and a service ace by Swarthmore won them the match, 3-1.
