THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the first set, Dickinson struck early to grab the first six points, forcing a Gettysburg time out. This broke the Red Devils' momentum for a short time, allowing Gettysburg to go 6-6 with Dickinson to bring the score to 12-6. The Red Devil's continued to run ahead, increasing their lead to as big as 20-13. Gettysburg tried to mount a comeback, grabbing the next four points to bring them within three, but Dickinson went 4-1 to give them set point, 24-18. A Bullets' attack error gave Dickinson the first set win.
• In the second set, it was the Bullets' turn to lead 12-6 early on, but the Red Devils quickly began to chip away at Gettysburg's lead. They went 10-8 to trail 20-18, before tying the score at 22-all. A Bullets kill put them back in the lead at 23-22, but Dickinson capitalized on a block and kill, as well as a Bullets error, to win them the second set.
• In the final set, Dickinson ran ahead to 9-2 over the Bullets, who were able to reduce the Red Devils' lead to three at 11-8. Dickinson blazed ahead again, going 9-3 to put them back squarely in the lead, 20-11. The Bullets made a 5-4 push to try to halt the Red Devils, making the score 24-16. It looked as though Gettysburg could mount a third set comeback, as they held the Red Devils at match point while they won three more for themselves, making the score 24-19. Ultimately, however, a kill by Alexa Barowski won the match for Dickinson.
