Bullets turn in fifth-place showing at conference championship

Gettysburg finishes fifth

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg placed four runners in the top 30 to post a fifth-place finish at the 2022 Centennial Conference championship hosted by Haverford. The Bullets finished with 109 points.

THE LEADERS
Kathryn Hopkins (Taneytown, Md./Winters Mill) led the Bullets with a 16th-place finish, posting a time of 23:13.7 over the 6,000-meter course.

FOR THE FOES
• Johns Hopkins grabbed its 14th straight title with a perfect score of 15 points for the second time in conference history. Alex Ross led five Blue Jays across the line at the head of the pack with a time of 21:36.8.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Amanda Addesso (Cheshire, Conn./Cheshire) placed 22nd with a time of 23:37.7.
Ava Crawford (Swarthmore, Pa./Strath Haven) followed her across the line with a time of 23:37.8.
Eliza Hoover (Mahwah, N.J./Academy of the Holy Angels) finished 30th overall with a time of 23:59.0.
Carys Cook (Fairfield, Conn./Laurelton Hall) placed 38th in a time of 24:44.1.
Sarah Smith (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) crossed 43rd overall with a time of 25:07.8.
Emily Trout (Ocean View, Del./Sussex Academy)  finished 50th with a time of 25:18.3.
Franny Proto (56th, 25:28.0), Rachel Fischler (61st, 25:38.7), Claira Royce (66th, 25:57.2), and Kyla Lorden (85th, 27:44.8) rounded out the Bullet competitors.

THE INSIDE STORY
• A total of 94 runners completed at the 6,000-meter distance.
• Dickinson was second with 80 points while 10 points separated third and fifth places. Swarthmore placed third (99) and Ursinus was fourth (100).
• For Gettysburg, the 109 points was its best score at the conference championship since 2009.

Gettysburg returns to action at the NCAA Div. III Mideast Regional hosted at Lock Haven on Saturday, Nov. 12. Action begins at 11 a.m.
