Meet Highlights
- The opening event witnessed host Franklin & Marshall and Swarthmore College break the previous championship record in the 200 medley relay. Junior Nick Cox (Purcellville, Ponte Vedra) put the Bullets in contention early with a 22.98 opening backstroke split, but Swarthmore pulled in front with a strong breaststroke leg by Andrew Karpenko. Down the home stretch, Chris Schiavone sped past the final swimmers from both Swarthmore and Gettysburg to finish with a new championship, conference, and pool standard of 1:30.00. Junior Zac Evans (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Egg Harbor Township), senior Sam Nonemaker (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg), and freshman Cort Hobelmann (Nashville, Tenn./Owensboro Catholic) followed Cox and finished with a time of 1:31.31, which tied the second-fastest mark in program history. The Bullets also finished third in the consolation final.
- Both F&M and Swarthmore also hit NCAA cuts in the 800 free with Gettysburg finishing in third. Senior Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley) turned in an impressive opening 200 yards, besting his PR and posting the fifth-fastest time in program history at 1:40.85 to put the Bullets in the lead. Franklin & Marshall managed to grab the lead at the halfway point and held on down the stretch despite a 1:38.45 split by Swarthmore's Ben Freeman over the final 200 yards. Franklin & Marshall's time of 6:41.25 and Swarthmore's time of 6:42.37 were well below the NCAA standard. Gettysburg produced the fourth-fastest time in program history with Proxmire, sophomore Hunter Sundlun (Richmond, Va./Saint Christopher's School), senior Oliver Pickering (Millburn, N.J./Millburn) and Nonemaker finishing at 6:48.31.
