Breakdown
  • With its last three contests cancelled due to weather, Gettysburg added Cedar Crest to the schedule before making the trek back north. Forry was the story of the game, retiring the first 17 batters she faced, including nine by groundout and five by strikeout. The Falcons finally put a base runner on with two outs in the sixth inning with Forry issuing a walk to Rachel Savini.
  • In the meantime, the Gettysburg offense came up empty in its first two trips to the plate despite putting a runner in scoring position. In the third inning, freshman Lauren O'Leary (Manasquan, N.J./Jackson Memorial) led off with a single and eventually scored on a two-out single up the middle by Moser.
  • Hopple connected on her first collegiate home run in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Bullets tacked on two more runs in the fifth on RBI singles by sophomores Allegra DeCandia (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) and Bailey Quinn (Hanford, Calif./Robinson).
  • Forry still had the no-hitter going in the seventh inning and retired the first batter with a fly out to center field. The second hitter reached on an error and Santaniel managed to finally get a ball out of the infield with a single to center field. A fielder's choice wiped out the runner at second base and Forry closed the win with a grounder to the mound.

By the Numbers
  • Gettysburg finished its spring trip with a 7-1 record with its only setback coming to King's (Pa.) College at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic. The Bullets also went 7-1 during their last visit to the event in 2020.
  • Forry did not allow a run in either of her final two appearances in the circle and finished the trip with a 1.47 ERA and 14 strikeouts over 19 innings. The first-year pitcher was attempting to throw the first no-hitter since Tori Ferraiolo '23 against Lancaster Bible College on March 9, 2020. That outing was a five-inning affair. Gettysburg's last seven-inning no-hitter was turned in by Courtney Todd '02 against Dickinson College on April 11, 2000.
  • Gettysburg finished its spring trip hitting .392 as a team and averaging 9.4 runs per game. Five players hit above .400 led by O'Leary at .500 (10-for-20). DeCandia led the team with 13 RBI, while Hopple drove in a dozen runs.
