THE LEADERS

THE REST OF THE STORY
• After a back-and-forth start to the first set, a pair of Olivia Biggs kills and a Kendall Erpenbeck (San Jose, Calif./Prospect) ace helped Gettysburg open up an 8-3 advantage. The Bullets gradually stretched the advantage en route to the 10-point set win.
• An Izzy Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) kill and block with Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) staked Gettysburg to a 2-0 lead that it did not relinquish. A Lauren Garvey kill drew Neumann within 15-12 but the Bullets tallied 10 of the final 13 points to take a 2-0 lead.
• The Knights raced out to a 6-0 lead in the third set to force a Gettysburg timeout. Back-to-back Brooke Lauletta (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown East) kills made it 7-6 but Neumann countered with five straight points. Alycen Radolovic got the visitors back within 15-12 with a kill but the Knights eventually forced the fourth set, 25-19.
• Tied at 6-all in the fourth set, a Lauletta ace and Radolovic kill put Gettysburg in front for good, 9-6. The lead swelled as large as 20-13 before one final Neumann rally closed the margin to 21-20. The teams traded points before three straight Knight errors closed out the 25-21 set win for the Bullets.
