THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg opened up a 2-0 lead in the match behind a pair of 25-15 victories before taking down Neumann 3-1 in the final match of the first day of the Knights Invitational.
THE LEADERS

Olivia Biggs (Winchester, Va./James Wood) led the Bullets with eight kills and three total blocks.

Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/Beaumont School) established a career high with 11 kills.
•
Chelsea O'Leary (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) chipped in 15 digs and three aces.
FOR THE FOES
• Regan Hickey paced the Knights with 13 kills.
• Dani Smith chipped in 13 digs, 26 assists and two blocks.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After a back-and-forth start to the first set, a pair of
Olivia Biggs kills and a
Kendall Erpenbeck (San Jose, Calif./Prospect) ace helped Gettysburg open up an 8-3 advantage. The Bullets gradually stretched the advantage en route to the 10-point set win.
• An
Izzy Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) kill and block with
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) staked Gettysburg to a 2-0 lead that it did not relinquish. A Lauren Garvey kill drew Neumann within 15-12 but the Bullets tallied 10 of the final 13 points to take a 2-0 lead.
• The Knights raced out to a 6-0 lead in the third set to force a Gettysburg timeout. Back-to-back
Brooke Lauletta (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown East) kills made it 7-6 but Neumann countered with five straight points.
Alycen Radolovic got the visitors back within 15-12 with a kill but the Knights eventually forced the fourth set, 25-19.
• Tied at 6-all in the fourth set, a Lauletta ace and Radolovic kill put Gettysburg in front for good, 9-6. The lead swelled as large as 20-13 before one final Neumann rally closed the margin to 21-20. The teams traded points before three straight Knight errors closed out the 25-21 set win for the Bullets.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg hit .220 in the match while Neumann hit just .046.

Callie Pidoriano (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) added 11 digs.

Kendall Erpenbeck contributed 18 assists while
Sophie Nasir (Covina, Calif./St. Lucy's Priory) added 12 assists, 10 digs and three blocks.
•
Mary Huegel finished with six total blocks.
• The Bullets are off to their best start to a season since opening the 2018 season with 11 straight wins.
