THE SKINNY STORY
After Gettysburg won the first set, Penn State Altoona claimed the second two, before the Bullets decided it in the final two sets.
THE LEADERS

Brooke Lauletta (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown East) notched a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs.

Izzy Lugar (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington) added nine kills and four digs.
•
Chelsea O'Leary (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) tallied 30 digs and five assists.

• Lacee Barnhart registered a double-double with 20 kills and 21 digs.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Gettysburg and Penn State Altoona stayed within a few points early in the first set, before an 8-3 run gave the Lions the edge at 12-9. The Bullets remained within three points, and with the score at 17-14, they went on a six-point streak to give themselves the lead, 20-17. Not to be counted out, the Lions went 5-3 to bring themselves within one at 23-22. An attack error gave the Bullets set point, and
Brooke Lauletta killed the ball for the set win.
• Both teams came out hot in the second set, which saw 13 ties and five lead changes. Neither team was up by more than three the whole set. Ultimately, Penn State Altoona was able to capitalize on several Bullets' errors and reach set point after a 24-24 tie. One more error from Gettysburg won the second set for Penn State Altoona, making the match score 1-1.
• After winning the second set, Penn State Altoona held their momentum to lead over the Bullets as big as 12-4 in the third. It was a lead they would not give up the whole set, though the Bullets were able to bring the score as close as four points. The Lions streaked out to a 24-18 edge, where a Bullets' service error won Penn State Altoona the second set and gave them the advantage in the match.
• In the fourth set, the Bullets saw things shift in their favor as they got out to an 11-4 lead. The Lions brought the score closer with a 6-2 run that reduced the Bullets to a 13-10 lead. The teams battled back and forth in a 4-2 run that brought the score to 17-12, before the Bullets tore away with an eight-point streak to win the set, capped by a kill from
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck). The 2-2 match tie forced the fifth and final set.
• In the last set, the Lions started out in the lead before the Bullets tied it up at 8-all. Three more ties resulted, the last being at 14-all. The Bullets got match point with a kill by
Izzy Lugar, and a block by
Izzy Lugar and
Mary Huegel won the match for the Bullets.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg had the advantage in kills 53-47 and digs 108-101.
•
Mary Huegel had a career-high seven blocks, including four solo blocks.
