Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) each tallied nine kills. Huegel also added five blocks while Holtz had three.
•

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Swarthmore began the first set with a 6-3 lead before two errors and a
Mary Huegel kill tied the score 6-all. The teams remained within just three points and notched another tie at 11-all before a kill by
Kylie Ulrich and two
Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/The Beaumont School) aces allowed them to take a 15-11 lead. Kills by Huegel and
Olivia Biggs (Winchester, Va./James Wood) helped Gettysburg widen their lead to 20-14, forcing a Swarthmore timeout. Swarthmore used three kills to edge back within four points, but kills by
Catherine Holtz and Biggs earned them the 25-18 first set win.
• The teams stayed close early in the second set, staying within just two points of one another before Swarthmore used two kills to notch a 14-10 lead, forcing a Gettysburg timeout. Out of the break, Gettysburg used another Ulrich kill and Radolovic ace to close within three, before two Gettysburg errors made it a six-point Swarthmore lead. Two
Brooke Lauletta (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown East) again brought the Bullets within three, and the teams traded points until Swarthmore notched two in a row to grow their lead to 22-17. Two straight Holtz kills and a Huegel ace closed the gap within one, but Zindzhi Montgomery killed the ball to even the match score, 1-1, on a 25-22 Swarthmore second set win.
• Again in the third set, the teams stayed within just two points until a Garnet attack error and Radolovic solo block gave the Bullets the 14-10 lead. Gettysburg used kills by Lauletta, Radolovic, and
Sophie Nasir (Covina, Calif./St. Lucy's Priory) to open up a 7-2 run for a 21-12 lead over the Garnet. Swarthmore battled back with a 4-0 run to close within five points, capitalizing on several Gettysburg errors and forcing a Bullets timeout. Out of the break, Ulrich killed the ball before Swarthmore put together another big run, going 4-0 to make it just a two-point set. However, Gettysburg pulled it together, using a Holtz kill and blocks by Huegel, Radolovic, and Holtz to close the set, 25-20 for a 2-1 match advantage.
• Gettysburg used several Swarthmore errors early in the fourth set to open up a 10-5 lead. The Bullets committed a few errors to allow Swarthmore to close within one point, 13-12. Gettysburg went on a 7-4 run with the Garnet to bring their lead back to four points, 20-16, and continued to push their lead to 24-18. Swarthmore tallied one more kill before committing an attack error to end the final set 25-19 in favor of the Bullets and making them the 3-1 match winner.
