THE SKINNY STORY
Johns Hopkins, ranked ninth in the latest D3football.com poll, raced out to a 28-0 lead en route to a 49-28 victory over Gettysburg.
THE LEADERS
•
Peter Schelling (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) ran the ball 13 times for a season-high 95 yards and two touchdowns.
•
Ryan McAndrew (Denville, Pa./Morris Catholic) made eight catches for 136 yards, recording his first 100-yard receiving game of the season. He also had a touchdown grab.
•
Matt Mikulka (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) led the defense with seven tackles.
FOR THE FOES
• Bay Harvey completed 18 of 20 passes for 288 yards and four touchdowns in just one half of action at quarterback.
• Andrew Rich rushed for 103 yards on six carries and a touchdown.
• Cole Crotty and Josh Polce combined for 11 catches that included three touchdowns for 186 yards. Polce had 90 yards and two scores among his six catches.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Spencer Uggla capped off an eight-play, 81-yard drive with a five-yard power run up the middle for a 7-0 Johns Hopkins lead at the 9:22 mark of the first quarter. Bay Harvey was 7-for-7 passing on the drive. After a Luca Lutzel interception, Harvey connected with Cole Crotty on a 55-yard touchdown pass on the first offensive play after the turnover for a 14-0 lead with 7:09 showing. Andrew Rich broke through the line for another one-play touchdown drive, sprinting 85 yards for a 21-0 lead with 4:29 to play.

Peter Schelling (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) capped a six-play, 83-yard drive with a 10-yard run on the first play of the second quarter to make it a 28-7 game. Two more Harvey touchdown connections stretched the lead to 42-7 at the break.
• After the Blue jays missed a field-goal attempt on the first possession of the second half, Schelling broke off a career-long 58-yard touchdown run to make it a 42-14 game with 10:01 remaining in the third quarter.
• After a PJ Scales 33-yard touchdown catch midway through the third quarter pushed the lead to 49-14,
Konrad Vandborg (Gentofre, Denmark/Rabun Gap) broke a 15-yard run up the middle with 14:16 to play in the fourth quarter for his first career rushing score.
Nate DeLorenzo's (Chesapeake, Va./Norfolk Academy) first career interception gave the Bullets a short field. Two plays later, Vandborg found
Ryan McAndrew for an 11-yard score, making it a 49-28 game just over four minutes later.
THE INSIDE STORY
•
Chris Singleton, Jr. (Catonsville, Md./Georgetown Prep) blocked his first kick of the season in the third quarter, giving him 10 for his career and tying the conference record. He also had seven tackles.
• Johns Hopkins outgained Gettysburg 565-429 on the evening.
•
Konrad Vandborg had his first career 200-yard passing game, completing 15 of 28 passes for 229 yards.
