THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg took a two-point lead into the locker room and never trailed in the second half, building a double-digit lead for most of the final six minutes of the game en route to a 70-56 win over No. 12 Johns Hopkins in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
THE LEADERS

Jordan Stafford (Galloway, N.J./St. Joseph Hammonton) led four Bullets with nine or more points, recording 17 on the night to go with seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks.

Carl Schaller (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) chipped in 16 points and three steals.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Triples from Brian Johanssn and Carson James helped Johns Hopkins build a 6-2 lead in the game's first 2:38. Gettysburg eventually tied the game at 8-all before John Windley drove to the basket and put the hosts back in front 10-8 with 14:54 on the clock. A
Max Pernetti (Oakland, N.J./Ramapo) 3-pointer and
Nate Williams (Morganville, N.J./St. John Vianney) old-fashioned three-point play gave the visitors a 14-10 lead nearly a minute later. Johansson capped a 10-3 counter that put the Blue Jays in front 20-17 with 9:06 remaining but back-to-back baskets over the next minute from Pernetti and
Jordan Stafford once again gave the Bullets a one-point lead. The Blue Jays put together another countering run to take a 29-26 edge but a
Ryan McKeon (Landenberg, Pa./Sanford [Del.]) connected on a hook shot and
Carl Schaller drained a 3-pointer for a 31-29 lead en route to a 32-30 advantage at the break.
• Williams canned a 3-pointer on the opening possession of the second half to stretch the lead to five. The lead grew to 40-34 on an
Akim Joseph (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/Notre Dame Fairfield [Conn.]) deep 3-pointer from up top with 16:03 showing. The lead grew to 47-42 on two Pernetti free throws before Brayden Fagbemi hit a pair of jumpers to trim the deficit to one with 8:11 remaining. A Schaller 3-pointer capped a run of nine straight top open up a double-digit lead with 5:48 to play. Williams drilled a step-back 3-pointer to extend the run to 14-1 before a Sidney Thybulle alley-oop halted a stretch of 4 minutes, 24 seconds without a field goal. After the Blue Jays trimmed the deficit to single digits, Schaller and Williams combined to finish the game on a 9-4 run to seal the victory.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg recorded its first win in Baltimore since a 70-65 win on Dec. 3, 2013 and snapped an 11-game losing streak in the series overall.
