THE SKINNY STORY
After being limited to four hits in a 6-2 loss to Penn College, Gettysburg rebounded with a 12-hit, five-inning victory over Penn State-Abington 9-0 to salvage a split on the day.

THE LEADERS
• Megan Hughes (Woodstock, Md./Marriotts Ridge) went the distance in the circle in game two with six strikeouts and no walks to earn the three-hit shutout.
• Lauren O'Leary (Manasquan, N.J./Jackson Memorial) and Julia Smith (Marydel, Del./Queen Anne's County) each had three hits over the two games.

FOR THE FOES
• Jordan Specht led the Wildcats with two hits in the first game.
• Jenna Gorman, Grace Renninger and Maddie Duffy each had a hit for the Lions in the nightcap.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener against Penn College, Mackenzie We led off the bottom of the second with a single. After a fielding error and sacrifice put runners at second and third, a Margaret Man walk loaded the bases. Madison Herr singled to right to score We and stake the Wildcats to a 1-0 lead.
• A one-out Jordan Spech single, fielding error and Lexi Snyder double stretched the lead to 3-0 in the third. After a walk, Man doubled home Snyder for a 4-0 lead.
• Lauren O'Leary led off the top of the fourth with a home run to right field. Julia Smith followed with a single before scoring from second on a two-out error to make it a 4-2 game.
• Penn College took advantage of a pair of errors in the bottom of the sixth to take on a pair of insurance runs.
• In the nightcap against Penn State-Abington, Smith singled with one out before taking second on a wild pitch and scoring on a Maddie Murphy (Summit, N.J./Summit) single to left for a 1-0 lead.
• Bailey Quinn (Hanford, Calif./Robinson Secondary School [Va.]) drew a one-out walk before scoring on an O'Leary triple to the gap to double the advantage in the second.
• Michaela Carroll (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) tripled with two outs in the third before scoring on a Lily Mader (Las Vegas, Nev./Valley) single to left to make it 3-0.
• With one out in the fourth, O'Leary roped a double before Smith followed with a single to left. A throwing error allowed O'Leary to score before back-to-back knocks from Giovanna Komst (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) and Murphy coupled with a Jess Campana (Brick, N.J./St. John Vianney) double to the fence stretched the lead to 7-0.
• Emma Rokoszak (Belmar, N.J./Trinity Hall) drew a pinch-hit walk to lead off the fifth before O'Leary and Smith also walked to load the bases. Komst followed with a two-run single through the right side to put the game in run-rule position before Megan Hughes worked around a one-out single to preserve the shutout.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Lauren O'Leary smacked the team's first home run of the season in the opener.
• Lily Mader's third-inning in the second game was the freshman's first career hit and first RBI.
• O'Leary joined Julia Smith, Giovanna Komst, Maddie Murphy, and Jess Campana all with two hits against Abington as part the 12-hit out. For Murphy, it was her first multi-hit outing. Michaela Carroll also notched her first career triple in the game.
