•
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) had a two-for-three day, with two hits, two runs, and one RBI.
•
Preston Toothman (Orlando, Fla./William R. Boone) tallied two hits on four at-bats to go with one run.
Â
FOR THE FOES
• Kenny Tagliareni hit two-for-four, with three RBIs, one double, and two runs scored. He was hit by pitch and walked as well.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Dickinson tallied five runs in the first inning, sending their entire batting order to the plate. A double by Kenny Tagliareni started things off, before Andrew Mazzone singled to bring him home. A single, wild pitch, and three walks brought in two more runs for Dickinson. A bases-loaded single by Nathan Bowman plated one more, and a hit batter allowed the final Dickinson run of the inning to come in. In the bottom of the inning,
Jack Pistner singled and
Kyle Miller (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) drove him in with a single for the Bullets' first run of the game, making the score 5-1 after one.
• In the top of the second, the Red Devils sent 12 to the plate and scored eight runs on seven hits. Dickinson first strung together two singles and two doubles around a walk to make it a 9-1 game. Another walk, wild pitch, and two singles brought in another two runs. A fielder's choice and single plated the final two Dickinson runs of the inning, before the Bullets turned a double play to get them out of the inning.
• Gettysburg began to chip away at the deficit in the bottom of the fifth, after
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) singled and
David Preziuso (Middletown, Del./Caravel Academy) drew a walk. A double by Pistner brought home Nichols.
Andrew Donlan (Haddam, Conn./Avon Old Farms) came into the game to pinch run for Preziuso, and he came home on a Miller single to make it a 13-4 ballgame after five innings.
• Several one-two-three innings for both teams finally gave way to a three-run bottom of the seventh for Gettysburg. The Bullets sent nine to the plate and tallied two hits while drawing five walks.
Matthew Peipher (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Twp.) and
Tristan Neels (San Diego, Calif./Francis W. Parker) both drew walks around a
Preston Toothman single to load the bases as
Liam Gregory came up to the plate. Gregory singled and an error by the Red Devils helped to plate all three runs for a 13-7 score.
• Dickinson scored their final runs of the game in the top of the eighth. Derek Smith doubled and Matt Torres reached on an error before a sacrifice bunt put two runners in scoring position. An error plated the first runner, and a single by Nathan Bowman brought in the Red Devils' 15th run of the game. A 16th run was walked in immediately after, before a single made it an 18-7 game. For the second time in the game, the Bullets turned a double play to get them out of the inning.
• The Bullets tacked on two more runs in their last offensive opportunity, sending six to the plate and tallying two hits. After
Mark Seibert (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) was walked, Gregory hit his second single of the day to put runners on first and second. A balk advanced them both, before a single by
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) brought both runners home for an 18-9 final score.
