THE SKINNY STORY

THE LEADERS
•
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) tallied three hits on four appearances. He also drew one walk.
•
Preston Toothman (Orlando, Fla./William R. Boone) added two knocks.
•
Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) hit a two-RBI double in the fourth inning.
FOR THE FOES
• Tommy Holcomb led the Mustangs' offense with two hits, three runs, and one RBI.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Two fielder's choices, a single, and an error scored the first run of the game for the Mustangs in the bottom of the first. A two-out, two-on single by Brandon Perillo plated two more for the Mustangs to give them a 3-0 advantage after one inning. Gettysburg got one back in the top of the next inning, however, after
Mark Seibert (Yardley, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) walked and a
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) double brought him home. In the bottom of the second, Dylan Scott was the first batter to hit the box and slammed a home run to give Stevenson a 4-1 lead.
• Gettysburg got within one run in the fourth inning, after Nichols drew a two-out walk and
Brendan Laqui (Randolph, N.J./Randolph) was hit by pitch to put two on. A double to center field by
Robert Murphy plated both runners, and the Bullets held Stevenson to a one-two-three bottom of the inning.
• In the bottom of the fifth, Stevenson scored two more runs on three hits and two Bullets errors. After a one-out single by Amani Jones, he moved up 90 feet on a throwing error. A two-out double by Holcomb scored Jones, and Perillo followed up with a single to advance Holcomb, who then came home on another error for a 6-3 Mustangs advantage after five.
• A Holcomb triple in the bottom of the eighth gave Stevenson a base runner, and he scored on a wild pitch to make it a four-run game. Gettysburg was unable to come up with any more runs in the top of the ninth, falling 7-3.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Stevenson narrowly outhit Gettysburg, 11-10. However, the Bullets committed five errors, while the Mustangs had none.
• Five Bullets tallied one base knock.
