Gettysburg scored a goal in every quarter and held Alvernia to only one goal in the second to earn a 4-1 season opener win.

THE REST OF THE STORY

Gaby Markunas got the Bullets on the board only seven and a half minutes into the game, fielding a pass from
Brinsley Rushe (Darien, Conn./Darien) and putting it into the cage to give Gettysburg a 1-0 lead.
•
Morgan Cherry (Phillipsburg, N.J./Phillipsburg) got the ball to
Hailey Rhine only 30 seconds into the second quarter and Rhine increased the Bullets' lead to two. Alvernia responded just over five minutes later after Olivia Hess took a penalty corner and corralled a ball from Brianna Burkholder to break up the shutout.
• Rhine gave the Bullets the unassisted insurance goal with just 46 seconds left in the third quarter, and a
Katie Regan penalty goal made it a here-goal game in the fourth quarter. In the final five minutes of play, Alvernia had a few looks to cage that were off the mark and Gettysburg took three shots, all of which were saved by Alvernia goalie Hannah Wolfe for a 4-1 final score.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg held advantages in shots 19-7 and corners 13-6.
• 13 of Gettysburg's shots were on goal, while four of Alvernia's were on the mark.
