THE LEADERS
•

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Catholic strode out to an early 8-5 lead in the first set before kills by
Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/The Beaumont School) and
Erin Gonzalez gave Gettysburg the narrow 11-10 edge. Catholic quickly countered with a 4-0 run to take a 15-12 lead, and the teams traded runs back and forth to a 20-18 Catholic advantage. From there, the teams traded points before three errors by Catholic along with a
Kylie Ulrich (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) kill gave Gettysburg set point, 24-22. A block, kill, and Bullets error got Catholic back in front, 25-24, and two kills by the Cardinals won them set one, 27-25.
• The teams went back-and-forth in the second set and were tied as late as 16-all, as Catholic worked out of a three-point deficit. A Bullets ball handling error kicked off a five-point streak for the Cardinals, capped by a Grace Guerin and Halie Murphy block to take a 20-16 lead. Gettysburg responded with their own four-point spurt, bookended by Radolovic and Holtz kills, and the teams tied again at 22, 23, 24, and 25-all. Finally, an Olivia Blondin kill and Sydney Sheppard service ace decided set two, again with a 27-25 score.
• Gettysburg and Catholic traded the lead nine times in the early goings of the third and final set, before Gettysburg carved out a 20-15 advantage on the back of two
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) aces. Catholic responded with a 5-1 run to come within one point, before Gettysburg made it 23-20 on a Gonzalez kill and ace. However, Catholic scored the final five points in a row to end the set 25-23 and win the match, 3-0.
