LAST TIME OUT: Gettysburg held Swarthmore to just one field goal for more than 26 minutes while the offense shot 53.4 percent for the game to cruise to an 80-25 win on Saturday. Alayna Arnolie led the Bullets with a season high-tying 21 points that included hitting 5 of 8 3-pointers. Mackenzie Szlosek added 19 points and five rebounds. HEAD OF THE CLASS: Alayna Arnolie was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week after leading the Bullets to a 2-0 week, averaging 18.5 points per game while playing just 27 minutes per game. She shot 56 percent (14 of 25) from the floor, including 50 percent (7 of 14) from beyond the arc. She scored 16 points in 31 minutes at Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday before matching her season best with 21 points in just 23 minutes against Swarthmore on Saturday. Arnolie also added five rebounds, five assists, three steals and a blocked shot.
NOT SHOOTING BLANKS: The Bullets had its best shooting game of the season on Saturday, hitting at a 53.4-percent clip against Swarthmore. It was the first time all season that Gettysburg had shot better than 50 percent in a game. Meanwhile the defense continued to be in lockdown mode, holding the Garnet to just 15.1 percent the floor that included a 26-plus-minute stretch in which the visitors shot just 1-for-29. Alayna Arnolie hit 8 of 11 field goals, including going 5-for-8 from long range, to match her season best with 21 points. Mackenzie Szlosek converted half of her field goals (6 of 12) to finish with 19 points. The 25 points were the fewest allowed by Gettysburg to a team other than Bryn Mawr since limiting Haverford to 25 on Nov. 21, 2000 while the 55-point margin of victory was also the largest in a non-Bryn Mawr game since 2000 and an 83-26 win over Hood on Feb. 4, 2000.
