Suter powers Gettysburg to low weekend at Bethpage

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg fired two team rounds of par or better to finish as part of a three-way tie atop the final standings at the George Cangero Invitational hosted by Farmingdale State at Bethpage-Blue. The Bullets posted a 36-hole score of 569 to match Adelphi and Luther. Adelphi was awarded the team title based on Sunday's fifth-man score, which topped Gettysburg and Luther by one stroke. The Bullets fired an even-par 288 on Saturday and round of 281 on Sunday.

THE LEADERS
Daniel Suter (Gaithersburg, Md./Milton Academy) tied with Farmingdale's CJ Merritt atop the individual standings with an eight-under par 136. Suter fired a one-under par 71 in the opening round before firing a tournament-low round of 65 over the final 18. His second round started with three birdies in the first five holes and finished with three birdies over the final five holes.

FOR THE FOES
• Adelphi rebounded from a Saturday round of 290 to fire a tournament-low score of 279 on Sunday and force the three-way tiebreaker on the top of the leaderboard. Luther carded a round of 282 in the second round after a score of 287 on Saturday.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Myles Cunningham (Winnetka, Ill./New Tier) placed tied for 12th in the field with an even-par score of 144. He was one-over in the first round before a one-under par 71 on Sunday.
Patrick Kilcoyne (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) finished tied for 15th with a score of 145. He fired a 73 on Saturday and even-par 72 on Sunday.
Daniel Casanta (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) was tied for 18th with a score of 146. He went one-under par on Saturday before carding a round of 76 over the second 18.
Christian Deussing (Doylestown, Pa./Hun School of Princeton [N.J.]) placed tied for 27th with a 149 behind a one-over par 73 on Sunday. He registered a round of 76 on Saturday.

THE INSIDE STORY
• The top five teams in the field finished with a 36-hole team score under par.
• The Bullets debuted at No. 12 in the national rankings published by Clippd this week and were the top team in the region.
Daniel Suter's round of 65 matched his low round.

NEXT UP
Gettysburg concludes the fall at the O'Brient Jensen Memorial in Greensboro on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 28-29.
