Gettysburg College Athletics

Tonight's Centennial Conference (CC) game marks the 82nd all-time meeting between Gettysburg (4-4-5, 1-3-2 CC) and McDaniel (7-5-2, 2-3-1 CC) in a series that dates back to 1931. The Bullets lead the all-time series 45-27-9 and have won seven of the last eight meetings. The last Green Terror victory was by a 2-1 margin on Nov. 1, 2014.

WHEN LAST WE MET: Gettysburg was awarded and converted a penalty kick in the 81st minute to forge a 2-all draw at McDaniel last season. Aidan Muller connected on the PK for his first tally of the season. Charlie Olson opened the scoring for the Green Terror with the game's lone first-half tally. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

LAST TIME OUT: Washington (Md.) scored the game's lone goal in the 54th minute for a 1-0 victory over Gettysburg on Saturday. Leandro Ribeiro made six saves to lead the Bullets. Ryan Sharpley scored the goal for the Shoremen. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

SINGLED UP: Since a three-game stretch in which 18 goals were scored in Gettysburg games, the defense has returned. Over the last three Bullet games, neither team has scored more than one goal. Gettysburg and Muhlenberg played to a 1-all draw on Oct. 5 before the Bullets knocked off Johns Hopkins 1-0 on Oct. 12. A week later in Chestertown, it was Washington that came out on top of a 1-0 decision with Gettysburg. This will be the first time since that run started, however, that the Bullets have played a midweek contest.

DOWN THE STRETCH THEY COME: The Green Terror enters the final two weeks of the season tied for the sixth and final conference playoff spot. McDaniel's final three games are against the three teams closest to the Green Terror in the standings. McDaniel is two points ahead of Gettysburg so a win this evening would go a long way in creating distance entering a home showdown with Swarthmore on Saturday. The Green Terror and Garnet enter today tied with seven points, two points behind Muhlenberg. McDaniel travels to Allentown for the final game of the regular season.
