THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg pulled away for comfortable wins in each of the first two sets before staving off a late comeback attempt by Dickinson to wrap up a 3-0 win.
THE LEADERS
•
Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/Beaumont School) led four Bullets with eight or more kills, recording a match-high 10.
•
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) added nine kills with one error on 14 swings to hit .571, adding three blocks.
•
Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) also had nine kills to go with nine digs.
•
Catherine Holtz (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) chipped in eight kills and two blocks.
FOR THE FOES
• Mallie Thomas led the Red Devil attack with eight kills.
• Amelia Kim chipped in seven kills and five digs while adding an ace and block.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Tied at 9-all after seven ties and five lead changes in the opening set, back-to-back Dickinson errors started a 9-1 run for the hosts.
Catherine Holtz had three kills and a block during the run. Holding a 19-12 advantage, two more errors pushed the Gettysburg lead to 21-12 en route to a 25-15 victory.
• The second set featured five ties and two lead changes early before a
Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of St. Elizabeth) kill gave the Bullets a 9-8 lead and started a run of six straight points to stretch the lead to 14-8. Dickinson closed back to within 17-14 but a
Sophie Nasir (Covina, Calif./St. Lucy's Priory) ace keyed another 3-0 run that extended the lead to 20-14 en route to a 25-17 win.
• The Red Devils jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the third set. Still trailing by four at 10-6,
Erin Gonzalez put down a kill to started a 5-1 counter that drew the set even at 11-all. The teams traded points until Gonzalez and
Gianna Galli (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley Demarest) bookended a run of three straight points to take an 18-15 edge.
Mary Huegel made it a 22-18 lead before Dickinson called a timeout, trailing 24-21. Kills from Grace Coccagna and two from Amelia Kim tied the set at 24-all but an error and Farrell kill on an over pass wrapped up the 26-24 victory.
THE INSIDE STORY

Nala Shearer (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) steadied the defense with 13 digs.
•
Gianna Galli added five kills and no errors on just nine attempts to hit .556 in the match.
•
Halle Feth (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) and
Sophie Nasir chipped in 23 and 15 assists, respectively.
• Gettysburg hit .301 in the match while holding Dickinson to .108.
