THE REST OF THE STORY
• On a breakaway in the 34th minute,
Aidan Muller (Cape Town, South Africa/Putnam Science Academy) took the ball to the endline and tried a centering pass that a Muhlenberg defender got a foot on, screening his own goalie in the process and redirected the cross into the net.
• From nearly the exact same spot on the field, Thomas Shreiber fired one on cage that was saved right to a waiting Saleem Diakite in front of the goal and he converted in the 54th minute. Both teams had opportunities over the final 35 minutes but could not convert and had to settle for the draw.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Muhlenberg finished with a 12-7 edge in shots, including holding a 7-4 edge in the second half. The Mules also had a 9-2 advantage in the corner kicks.
