Gettysburg opens conference slate with sweep of Muhlenberg

THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg rallied from a 16-7 deficit in the first set to win 27-25 and key a sweep of Muhlenberg.

THE LEADERS
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) led the Bullets with a career high-tying nine blocks to go with four aces and seven kills. She had just one error and hit .500 on the day.

FOR THE FOES
• Christina Marcin led the Mules with 10 kills and nine digs.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Muhlenberg used three kills from Christina Marcin and an Emma Laskaj ace to just out to a 10-2 lead in the opening set. The lead swelled to 16-7 before a Mary Huegel kill started a 6-0 run to close the deficit to four. Huegel had two blocks during the run. A Kendall Erpenbeck (San Jose, Calif./Prospect) ace tied the set at 22-all to force a Muhlenberg timeout. The teams traded points until a Sophie Nasir (Covina, Calif./St. Lucy's Priory) ace gave the Bullets a 27-25 win in the first set.
• Huegel and Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/Beaumont School) combined for three kills and two blocks to ignite a 9-2 start to the second set. Holding a 14-7 lead, Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) knocked down a kill then served nine straight points, including an ace, to open up a 24-7 en route to a 25-8 win.
• The third set started back-and-forth before a Gonzalez kill started a 4-0 run to take a 17-15 edge. Three Huegel aces around a block from Ellen Manke (Madison, N.J./Morristown Beard County) and Catherine Holtz (Chester, N.J./West Morris Mendham) block to open up a 22-17 lead en route to a 25-20 win for th sweep.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Alycen Radolovic led the attack with 10 kills while Catherine Holtz and Erin Gonzalez had six kills each.
• As a team, the Bullets hit .274 on the day and had 14 total blocks. Gettysburg also had 13 aces.
