THE FACTS

What: Centennial Conference (CC) men's basketball game
When: Saturday, Feb. 10
Where: Collegeville, Pa.

THE SKINNY STORY
Ursinus used an 11-0 run in the first half to build a 15-point lead and maintained a double-digit lead for the final 22 minutes of the game to notch a 78-59 home win over Gettysburg.

THE LEADERS
Carl Schaller (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) led the Bullets with 17 points.

FOR THE FOES
• Mohamed Toure paced the Bears with 17 points of his own.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• A Ryan McKeon (Landenberg, Pa./Sanford [Del.]) three-point play staked Gettysburg to a 5-2 lead nearly three minutes into the contest. The Gettysburg lead grew to 10-6 on a single Carl Schaller free throw with 14:31 showing before a Luke Nieman layup and Nick Nocito 3-pointer put Ursinus in front by one just 3:04 later. Buckets from Jordan Stafford (Galloway, N.J./St. Joseph Hammonton) and McKeon around a Mohamed Toure 3-pointer made it a 14-all game midway through the opening half. A Toure four-point play sparked an 8-2 burst that opened up a 22-16 advantage with 8:08 remaining. Ray Zamloot (Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) drained a corner 3-pointer to close to within 24-20 four minutes later before Ursinus scored 11 straight points to open up a 39-24 lead. Akim Joseph (Pout-au-Prince, Haiti/Notre Dame Fairfield [Conn.]) hit the second of two free throws with 1:02 left to halt the scoring drought. A Stafford three-point play with 3.2 seconds remaining trimmed the margin to 39-28 at the intermission.
• Ursinus, though, scored the first six points of the second half to extend the lead to 17 just 2:35 into the stanza. After a Schaller turnaround made it a 50-34 game with 14:36 showing, the Bears tallied another six in a row to open up a 22-point lead with 12:29 remaining. The lead remained between 18 and 24 points the rest of the way.

THE INSIDE STORY
• With the loss, Gettysburg falls to second place in the conference standings one game behind Johns Hopkins with two games to play. A Franklin & Marshall loss at Swarthmore, however, kept the Bullets a game clear of the Diplomats in the race for a first-round bye.
Jordan Stafford and Ryan McKeon chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively, for Gettysburg. Both also pulled down five rebounds.
• Ursinus shot 45.2 percent for the game. It is just the fifth time in 23 games this season that an opponent has shot 45 percent or better from the floor against the Bullets. The Bears also finished with a 43-30 advantage on the glass.

NEXT UP
Gettysburg returns to action at home against McDaniel on Wednesday. Game time is 8 p.m.
