LAST TIME OUT: Gettysburg shot 58.8 percent in the first quarter, building a 12-point lead en route to a 67-48 win at Ursinus on Saturday. Alayna Arnolie scored 14 of her game-high 24 points in the opening stanza while adding six rebounds. Mackenzie Szlosek added 15 points and a team-best seven rebounds. HEAD OF THE CLASS: Alayna Arnolie was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the third straight week on Tuesday. Arnolie averaged 27.0 points per game to lead the Bullets to a 3-0 week. After scoring 30 points at Dickinson to be the first Gettysburg player to score 30 or more since Nov. 18, 2018 on Tuesday, she tied the program record with seven 3-pointers as part of a 27-point performance at home against Muhlenberg on Thursday. She wrapped up the week with a 24-point game at Ursinus on Saturday included 14 points in the first quarter. Arnolie shot 28 of 51 from the floor (54.9 percent) from the floor and 14 of 28 (50.0 percent) from long range. She hit all 11 free-throw attempts while also adding 11 rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots.
WHAT'S THE SCENARIO?: Gettysburg, which rose to 23rd in this week's D3hoops.com poll, enters the final week of the regular season tied with Johns Hopkins for the conference lead. Both teams are 17-1 with their lone loss coming on the other's home floor. Both teams are assured of hosting a semifinal next Friday. If both the Bullets and Blue Jays go 2-0 this week, a coin toss will be needed to determine the top seed and who would host the championship game should both teams advance out of the semifinals.
