Gettysburg scored the first 14 points of the third quarter to open up a 28-point lead, defeating McDaniel, 71-42.

Mackenzie Szlosek (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East) led the Bullets with 18 points on 7-for-10 shooting. She also added six rebounds and three steals.

Mackenzie Szlosek, Gettysburg jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the game's first 1:47. A Teya McConnaha layup and Elaina Beckett 3-pointer, however, put McDaniel in front 7-6 with 7:04 showing. The teams traded points until a Szlosek triple and a
Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) jumper just 12 seconds apart opened up a 17-13 lead with 42 seconds remaining in the opening quarter before the teams traded single free throws to keep it a four-point game after 10 minutes.
• After Peyton Tague hit a 3-pointer on the opening possession of the second quarter to close the deficit to one, four points from
Shinya Lee helped key a stretch of six straight that opened up a 24-17 lead with 8:04 remaining. Szlosek and Lee combined to stretch the run to 13-2 before McConnaha canned a 3-pointer with 4:21 on the clock to make it a 31-22 game. Two
Alayna Arnolie (Vienna, Va./James Madison) hit four straight points to spark an 8-3 close that stretched the advantage to 39-25 at the intermission.
• With 14 straight points to start the third quarter, the run stretched to 22-3 with five different Bullets scoring in the stretch. Beckett finally snapped the drought with 2:15 to play in the period after Gettysburg had pushed the lead to 28. She scored seven straight before
Marah McHugh (West Chester, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) hit a layup with 27 ticks remaining to make it a 55-32 game heading to the fourth quarter.
• The lead remained between 25 and 29 points until
Jameson Mott (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) hit an elbow jumper with 5:04 showing to make it a 30-point margin.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Gettysburg shot 56 percent (14 of 25) in the decisive second and third quarters.
• The Bullets went 15-for-20 from the free throw while the Green Terror was just 2-for-3.
• Seven Gettysburg players scored six or more points in the game.
