THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg put together a seven-run inning for a 9-0, five-inning win over Geneseo in the opener before capping the day and trip to The Spring Games with a 2-1 win over Utica.

THE LEADERS
• Lily Mader (Las Vegas, Nev./Valley) recorded a pair of two-hit games to lead the Bullets.
• Audrey Bergan (Encinitas, Calif./La Jolla Country Day School) had five hits, including a three-hit game against Utica.

FOR THE FOES
• Kaitlyn Schmitz led the Knights with a double.
• Emily Joss paced the Pioneers with a 3-for-3 day.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Lily Mader poked a one-out single up the middle in the second inning against Geneseo. Emily Vinal (Erwinna, Pa./Mt. St. Joseph) followed with a single before Clare Sottile (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spacekenkill) drew a walk to load the bases. After a fielder's choice scored Mader before an Audrey Bergan two-run single made it a 3-0 game. A Lauren O'Leary (Manasquan, N.J./Jackson Memorial) infield single and an Anika Pelekis (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) RBI single pushed the lead to 4-0. Morgan DeFreitas (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West) singled home O'Leary before a two-run Giovanna Komst (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) double made it 7-0.
• Singles from Sottile and Bergan in the third put runners at the corners with two outs for O'Leary, who tripled to the right-center gap in the third for a 9-0 lead.
• Against Utica, a walk and throwing error on an attempted double play put Julia Smith (Marydel, Md./Queen Anne's County) at second base with two outs before Bailey Quinn (Hanford, Calif./Robinson Secondary School [Va.]) poked a single into center for a 1-0 lead in the top of the second.
• In the fifth inning, Alyssa Barbato reached on an infield single before moving to second on a fielder's choice. A two-out single from Emily Joss tied the game at 1-all.
• A throwing error and sacrifice bunt had Bergan at second in the top of the sixth for Pelekis, who dropped a single into left for the 2-1 advantage.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Lauren O'Leary had three hits and two RBIs against Geneseo while Audrey Bergan and Lily Mader notched two hits each. Bergan and Giovanna Komst each had two RBIs.
• Isabella Santiago (Austin, Texas/Akins Early College) went the distance in that game, scattering five hits.
• In addition to Bergan's three hits against Utica, Mader added a pair.
• Audrey Wright (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown West) pitched five-plus innings with one strikeout for the win while Paige Forry (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) fanned two to close out the victory with her second save.
