THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg got solid pitching and timely hitting to sweep Mary Washington, taking game one 11-3 in six innings before escaping with a 4-2 win in the nightcap.

THE LEADERS
Anika Pelekis (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) led the Bullets with four hits and three RBIs on the afternoon. She was one of three players with three hits in the opener
Carlie Goldstein (Verona, N.J./Verona) provided the difference in game two with a three-run home run in the fifth inning.

FOR THE FOES
• Emily Angel led the Eagles with three hits on the day.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• In the opener, Lauren O'Leary (Manasquan, N.J./Jackson Memorial) was hit by a one-out pitch before a Giovanna Komst (Londonderry, N.H./Londonderry) single and Morgan DeFreitas (Coatesville, Pa./Downingtown West) walk loaded the bases. Julia Smith (Marydel, Md./Queen Anne's County) followed with a sacrifice fly for a 1-0 lead.
Anika Pelekis tripled with one out in the second before a Bailey Quinn (Hanford, Calif./Robinson Secondary School [Va.]) sacrifice fly made it a 2-0 game.
• With one out in the top of the third, Hannah Steele, Shelby Presgrave and Bridget Laychak each singled to make it a 2-1 game. After a groundout, Emily Angel poked a two-run single up the middle to turn the one-run deficit into a one-run lead.
• O'Leary doubled to lead off the third before back-to-back one-out walks to DeFreitas and Smith loaded the bases. After a fielder's choice erased the run at the plate for the second out, Clare Sottile (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Spackenkill) dropped a single into left-center to score DeFreitas and Smith before Pelekis cleared the bases with a double of her own to make it a 6-3 lead.
Audrey Bergan (Encinitas, Calif./La Jolla Country Day School) led off the fourth with a single before moving to second on a wild pitch and then was able to score on a Komst single to left to push the lead to 7-3. After a pair of wild pitches and a walk put runners at the corners with two outs, Carlie Goldstein singled home Komst to stretch the advantage to 8-3.
• Komst led off the sixth with a double to the gap before a one-out walk to Smith. With two out, Sottile doubled to the gap, scoring both runners before she was able to score on a Pelekis knock to center for the run-rule win.
• In game two, neither team could dent the scoreboard until two outs in the home fifth. Pelekis and Quinn led off the inning with back-to-back singles before a pair of groundout had runners at second and third with two outs. A fielding error allowed Pelekis to score with the game's first run before Goldstein ripped a 1-2 pitch over the fence in left for her first homer of the season and a 4-0 lead.
• Steele singled to lead off the top of the sixth before a two-out Angel single cut the margin to 4-1. Emma Schieda followed with a double to the fence in left to make it a 4-2 game but a lineout ended the threat.

THE INSIDE STORY
Audrey Bergan, Giovanna Komst and Anika Pelekis all had three hits in game one. Clare Sottile had two hits and a career-best four RBIs. For Pelekis, it was her first collegiate multi-hit game.
Paige Forry (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) went the distance in the circle with six strikeouts and no walks.
Bailey Quinn had the only multi-hit game in the nightcap, rapping out a 2-for-3 day.
Isabella Santiago (Austin, Texas/Akins Early College) struck out four and walked none in the complete-game victory in game two.

NEXT UP
