THE LEADERS
•
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) hit 1.000 on the day and knocked in his third home run in three games. He scored three runs, hit a double and drew two walks.
FOR THE FOES
• Dylan Posencheg had a two-for-three day with one run, one RBI, two stolen bases, and one walk.
THE REST OF THE STORY
•
Jack Pistner got the offense started with a two-out home run in the top of the first inning. Gettysburg then turned a double play in the bottom of the inning to keep the Red Devils off the board.
• Three straight walks and a sacrifice fly plated Dickinson's first run in the bottom of the third, and a wild pitch brought in one more to give the hosts the 2-1 advantage. In the top of the fourth, Gettysburg took the lead after Pistner drew a walk and singles by
Kody Clausius (Landenberg, Pa./Avon Grove) and
Tristan Neels (San Diego, Calif./Francis W. Parker) along with a throwing error allowed Pistner to come home and tie the game.
Matt Nichols (White Plains, N.Y./Byram Hills) followed with an RBI single to make it 3-2 before the Red Devils turned a double play to get them out of the inning.
• In the bottom of the fourth inning, the hosts sent 11 to the plate and scored six runs on just two hits. The inning opened with four straight free passes to load the bases, and a sacrifice bunt scored Dickinson's first of the inning to tie the game 3-all. Singles by Christian Kim and Kenny Tagliareni made it a 6-3 game before a hit batter brought home another. The Red Devils scored their final run of the inning on a sacrifice fly to lead 8-3.
• Gettysburg brought the deficit down to just three in the fifth inning. A two-out walk and stolen base by
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) put him in scoring position, and Pistner followed by drawing a walk as well. An RBI single by Clausius plated Gettysburg's first run, and a throwing error brought home Pistner for an 8-5 margin, which would hold until the bottom of the eighth.
• In the home half of the eighth inning, Dylan Posencheg singled and stole two bases before coming home on a wild pitch. A one-out RBI single by Kyle Sigmon made it a 10-5 game. Sigmon reached second on another wild pitch, and a two-run homer by Johnny Bruno set the final 12-5 score.
