THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg, ranked eighth in the latest ILWomen/IWLCA national poll, scored 10 goals in the first quarter to establish a 10-4 lead en route to a 19-11 victory against Ursinus.
THE LEADERS

Julie Breedveld (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) finished with five points on one goal and four assists. She also grabbed two ground balls and caused one turnover.

Jordan Basso (Rye, N.Y./Rye) scored seven points with four goals and three assists.
•
Julia Daly (McLean, Va./McLean) tallied five points on four goals and one assist.

• Julia McCann led the Bears' offense with one goal and two assists.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Ursinus struck early as Grace Lynch scored the first goal of the day in the opening minute of play.
Julia Daly scored two goals for Gettysburg around a Dana DeSiato Bears goal for a 2-all tie at the 10:49 mark. The back-and-forth continued as
Jordan Basso got her first goal of the day on a solo drive and the hosts connected on an advantage free position goal to tie the game again. Basso responded with a free position tally of her own just 10 seconds later to take the lead, but Mary Michaud tied the game for the third time with a solo score. With 3:08 left in the opening quarter, Gettysburg took off on a 6-0 run to lead 10-4.
Emily Crane (Upper Montclair, N.J./Montclair) started the run by netting her first of the day, and was followed by an
Ella Patterson (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) tally that was assisted by Basso just 17 seconds later. In the final 95 seconds of the first quarter,
Lauren O'Connell (Winchester, Mass./Winchester) assisted Daly in her third goal of the day, and Basso dished to
Maddie Passarello (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) to convert an advantage opportunity.
Julie Breedveld and Crane scored the final two goals of the quarter 50 seconds apart for a 10-4 Gettysburg lead after one.
• Gettysburg added five more goals in the second quarter while the defense held Ursinus scoreless. Just under two minutes into the quarter, Basso completed her hat trick and Daly got her fourth goal of the day on a pass from Breedveld. A free position opportunity allowed O'Connell to dodge and convert for a 13-4 lead. Crane and
Caroline Sullivan (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe) completed the scoring for Gettysburg with goals just over a minute apart to set the 15-4 margin going into halftime.
• Passarello and Sullivan each made it two goals on the day in the opening seven minutes of the second half. Basso scored her fourth of the day as Gettysburg's defense continued to lock down and hold the Bears to nine shots but just one goal in the final 18 seconds for an 18-5 score going into the final quarter.
• Ursinus opened the fourth quarter with a 3-1 run over a 10-minute span to close within 11 goals. Gettysburg got their goal in the stretch from a
Nina Marra (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) pass to
Meghan Crane (Montclair, N.J./Montclair). In the final three minutes, the Bears added three more goals for a 19-11 final.
THE INSIDE STORY
• With the win, Gettysburg clinches a top two seed in the Centennial Conference and will host one of two semifinals in the conference tournament.

Gillian Cortese (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape) and
Juliette deVarenne (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) split time in goal, each making four saves.
•
Lily Macatee (Street, Md./North Harford) finished with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
• Eleven different Bullets scored at least one point.
Emily Crane finished with three, scoring three goals.
