An evenly-matched game ultimately went Emerson's way when the visitors found the back of the net in the 85th minute for a 1-0 win at Gettysburg in the season opener for both teams.

Elise Fox (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) anchored a backline that included stopping a would-be goal off a rebound in the 53rd minute.

FOR THE FOES
• Yoshiko Slater had the game winner for the Lions.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• After an initial shot from the middle of the box was tipped and turned back, Yoshiko Slater was able to collect the rebound and knocked it into the top of the net for the 1-0 win.
• Gettysburg had a pair of attempts on frame from distance in the waning minutes but couldn't get the equalizer.
