Gettysburg College Athletics

Tonight's non-conference game between Gettysburg (1-1) and Carthage (2-0) is the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

LAST TIME OUT: Carnegie Mellon scored twice in the game's first 32 minutes to key a 3-1 win over Gettysburg on Sunday. Chase Sempervive scored the lone goal for the Bullets, pulling the hosts within 2-1 at halftime. Jake Kavan scored two of the Tartans' goals. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING: The Bullets had three different players register their first collegiate points in Friday's 2-1 win over Sewanee. Cole McCartney netted his first collegiate goal in the first half to get Gettysburg on the board. In the second half, Ean Malay tallied the game-winning goal for his first collegiate marker. Dylan Capazario had the assist on the game-winner for his first point in his first college game. Leandro Ribeiro and Sean Kennedy also both saw their first action in goal over the weekend. Ribeiro played all 90 minutes on Friday while Kennedy earned the start and went the distance on Sunday against Carnegie Mellon.

LAST TIME OUT: Carthage wrapped up the Labor Day weekend road trip with a Sunday afternoon game at Concordia Chicago. After a slow start offensively, the Firebirds rallied in the second half to earn their second consecutive win to open the 2024 season, 3-1. (Full Recap) (Box Score)

WEEKEND ROAD TRIPS: Carthage spent the opening weekend of the season with a road trip to the Chicagoland area. For the second weekend, the road trip is much longer with a trip to Central PA. After tonight's game here, the Firebirds wrap up at Messiah on Saturday night. After this weekend, Carthage does not leave Wisconsin until Oct. 5. They start a five-game homestand in Kenosha next Saturday afternoon that stretches through the opening of CCIW play against Millikin on Sept. 28.

NOT VERY CROWDED AT THE TOP: The Firebirds scored four goals over their first two games. Three of those four tallies came from Aidan Crowder, including the final two markers against Concordia Chicago. Those two goals came just 1 minute, 48 seconds apart. His three goals came on just six shots (four on goal).
