THE REST OF THE STORY

McDaniel scored six of the next eight points to close to within 12 on a Chuck Contee driving layup with 11:13 to play but Rassoul Abakar (Cameroon/Notre Dame Fairfield [Conn.]) hit a 3-pointer a 71 seconds later. The lead remained between 13 and 16 points until the Bullets held the Green Terror without a point for the final 5:31 of the half, closing the stanza on a 12-0 run that included two Lorenzo Carrara free throws with 0.3 seconds left after a Flagrant 2 foul was assessed.
• The lead remained above 20 points until a Kearney 3-pointer with 12:19 to play made it a 56-39 game. Carrara extended the lead back out to 61-39 with a triple 2:31 later but McDaniel tallied the next seven points to make it a 15-point game with 7:25 remaining.
