• The second set was back-and-forth to start. Trailing 8-7, a Gonzalez kill and block from Manke and
Ione Pedersen (Bigfork, Mont./Eagle Valley [Colo.]) turned the one-point deficit into a one-point lead. Valerie Stoltz retied the set at 9-all but Gonzalez knocked down a kill started a 4-0 run to give Gettysburg the lead for good. A run of three straight
Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/Beaumont School) kills opened up a 16-11 lead, keying a 9-0 run that pushed the advantage to 22-11 en route to a 25-13 win.
• A pair of
Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of St. Elizabeth) kills keyed a 5-0 run that opened up an early 6-2 advantage in the third set. The River Hawks trimmed to within two on three occasions before another Gonzalez kill and block from Pedersen and Manke extended the lead back to 10-6. Three more Gonzalez helped push the lead to 14-7 and force a timeout. The Bullets lead remained at no fewer than five the rest of the way and they tallied six of the final seven points for a 25-14 win and the sweep.
