Gettysburg scored the first six points of the third set to help complete a 3-0 win over Washington (Md.) in the Centennial Conference opener for both teams.
THE LEADERS

Clare Farrell (Livingston, N.J./Academy of St. Elizabeth) led the Bullets with 13 kills, four digs and a block.

Alycen Radolovic (Willoughby, Ohio/Beaumont School) added 10 kills on just 14 swings with just one error, hitting .643 in the match.

• An
Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) ace gave Gettysburg a 2-1 lead in the first set and sparked a 7-0 run to take an early 8-1 lead. The lead grew to 13-3 on a
Halle Feth (Castle Rock, Colo./Douglas County) ace en route to a 25-13 victory.
• The second set featured 13 ties and five lead changes with neither team building a lead of more than two points until a block from Lyndsey Wessel and Giselle Kleinbussink gave Washington an 18-15 lead. Trailing 24-21, a service error and back-to-back blocks from
Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) – the first alongside
Clare Farrell – tied the set at 24-all. Izzy Diehl and Farrell traded kills before Gonzalez gave Gettysburg a 26-25 edge and Huegel capped it with her sixth block of the set for a 27-25 win.
• Led by three
Kendall Erpenbeck (San Jose, Calif./Prospect) aces, the Bullets jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the third set. Three Alexis Stubbs aces helped close the deficit to 8-6 but another run of six straight Gettysburg points extended the lead to 14-6 and the hosts capped off the sweep, 25-19.
THE INSIDE STORY
•
Nala Shearer (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) led the three players in double-digit digs with 15. defense with 18 digs.

Erin Gonzalez added 13 digs to go with five kills, two aces and two blocks.

Halle Feth chipped in 14 assists and 10 digs while
Kendall Erpenbeck had 24 assists, five digs and three aces.
