Gettysburg scored the first points of the game 46 seconds in and never gave up the lead in a 72-45 win at Penn State-Altoona.
THE LEADERS

Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) led the Bullets with a career-high 20 points, hitting 9 of 15 field-goal attempts. Gettysburg had five players with eight or more points on the night.

• Avana Sayles led the Lions with 14 points, six rebounds and three steals.

Skylar Reale (Warren, N.J./Morristown Beard) free throws with 9:14 showing in the first period gave Gettysburg the early lead.
Adeline Standish (Avon, Conn./Avon) added a pair of second-chance layups around two
Kimberly Hopkins free throws for an 8-0 lead just 2:20 into the game. Addi Schirato hit a jumper to get Altoona on the board 19 seconds later before layups from
Amanda Rapel (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) and Hopkins made it a double-digit game with 6:36 on the clock. The Lions responded with seven of the next nine points to close to within five midway through the opening quarter. The Bullets, however, scored six straight points to open up a 22-11 lead with 51 ticks left en route to a 23-14 advantage after 10 minutes.
• Four points from Avana Sayles made it a 23-18 game just 2:23 into the second quarter but a Hopkins jumper sparked a 10-2 burst. Hopkins and
Sarah Bertolette (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) contributed all of the points during the 3minute, 8-second stretch.
• Gettysburg held a 36-25 lead at the break before scoring the first 12 points of the third quarter to extend the advantage to 23. A single Schirato free throw with 4:43 broke up the run and Sayles had the hosts' first field goal of the second half with 3:21 on the clock to make it 52-30.
• The Bullets held a 56-32 lead after three quarters and tallied the first eight of the fourth quarter for a 32-point lead. The advantage remained at least 30 points until two Halle Kuzminski free throws with 3:06 remaining and the Lions scored six of the games' final eight points for the 27-point final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY

Adeline Standish finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Ava O'Neil (Chevy Chase, Md./St. Johns's College),
Sasha Brody (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) and
Reagan Chrencik (New Hope, Pa./New Hope-Solebury) all had eight points. Brody added six rebounds while Chrencik had five and two blocked shots.

Skylar Reale posted eight rebounds to lead a 63-rebound effort for Gettysburg. She also had five points, two assists and two steals.
