THE SKINNY STORY
Johns Hopkins, ranked 10th in the latest AVCA Div. III coaches' poll, won the first two sets by two points each before Gettysburg took the third set. The Blue Jays, however, closed out the match with a 25-20 win to take the match, 3-1.

THE LEADERS
• Mary Huegel (Marlboro, N.J./Colts Neck) led the Bullets with nine total blocks to go with four kills and an ace.
• Emma Bradshaw (East Setauket, N.Y./Ward Melville) contributed 11 kills and five blocks.
• Nala Shearer (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) led the defense with 30 digs, hitting the milestone for the second time this season.

FOR THE FOES
• Celine Ebert led the Blue Jays with 18 kills.
• Helena Swaak filled up the box score with eight kills, 23 assists, two aces 23 digs and three blocks.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• The first set featured nine ties and four lead changes with three runs of no fewer than four straight points. Back-to-back Helena Swaak aces built an early 4-1 lead for Johns Hopkins before a Nala Shearer ace drew the hosts even at 4-all. Trailing 10-7, two Emma Bradshaw kills helped turn the three-point deficit into a 12-10 lead. Gettysburg maintained the lead at 18-15 before a Simone Adam kill led to five straight for the Blue Jays and a 19-18 edge. The teams went back-and-forth until Celine Ebert tied the set at 24-all. Swaak made it set point and Adam put back an overpass for the 26-24 win.
• Back-to-back blocks from the Blue Jays and a third hitting error quickly staked the visitors to a 3-0 lead in the second set. However, a pair of Alycen Radolovic kills helped draw the set even at 6-all. Just like the opening set, the second set featured nine ties and four lead changes with neither team leading by more than the early three-point edge until Erin Gonzalez (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) knocked down a kill to make it 12-11 and start a 7-1 run for a 17-13 lead. Johns Hopkins countered with a 6-0 run of its own to go back in front, 19-17. Trailing 21-20 on a Huegel kill, Ebert responded with her own knockdown and back-to-back errors gave the Blue Jays a 23-21 edge. Huegel teamed with Ava Grall (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla./Ponte Vedra) for one of the Bullets' seven blocks in the set then Huegel knocked down a kill to retie the set. Ebert and Yu, however, finished off a 25-23 win.
• It was another back-and-forth set in the third with neither team leading by more than two until Gettysburg took advantage of three straight Johns Hopkins hitting errors for an 11-8 lead. The Bullets extended the lead to 14-9 on a block from Gianna Galli (Demarest, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) and Emma Bradshaw. The Blue Jays got as close as 23-20 down the stretch but a pair of error cut the match score to 2-1 with a 25-21 win for the hosts.
• Two Radolovic kills helped Gettysburg jump out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth set. A Jocelyn Pye kill tied the set at 6-all before an error gave Johns Hopkins its first lead at 7-6 and the visitors did not trail the rest of the way. Clinging to a 20-18 lead, Ebert knocked down a kill then Swaak put away three in a row to push it to match point. Pye then finished off the 25-20 victory.

THE INSIDE STORY

• The Bullets have secured a Centennial Conference tournament appearance and will be either the fourth or fifth seed. Johns Hopkins secured a first-round bye with the win and will lock up the top seed with a win over Muhlenberg in the regular-season finale on Saturday.
