THE SKINNY STORY

THE LEADERS

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Behind four points from Lindsay Bednarek, DeSales jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Two Sarah Bertolette (Farmington, Conn./Farmington) free throws opened the lid for Gettysburg with 5:57 to play. The Bulldogs extended the lead to 10-2 before Adeline Standish (Avon, Conn./Avon) got the Bullets' first field goal with 2:36 showing. DeSales finished the quarter with a 16-7 lead.
• The Bulldogs added five of the first seven points in the second quarter to take a 21-9 lead with 7:35 remaining. Behind seven points from Amanda Rapel, the Bullets went on a 10-3 run to close to within five. DeSales pushed the lead back out to nine en route to a 28-21 halftime lead.
• A Mikaili Donmoyer driving layup pushed the lead back to double digits at 32-22. However, Jameson Mott (Evergreen, Colo./Evergreen) hit a 3-pointer with 8:20 on the clock and then another 37 seconds later to quickly trim the margin to four. The advantage grew back to six twice but a single Kimberly Hopkins (Baldwin, N.Y./Sacred Heart Academy) free throw made it a 44-41 game after three quarters.
• Trailing 46-43, Ava O'Neil (Chevy Chase, Md./St. John's College) drained a triple to tie the game for the first time since 0-0 with 8:55 to play in the fourth quarter. Rapel then hit a layup a minute later for Gettysburg's first lead of the game. Tied at 50-all, Bertolette hit a layup before O'Neil and Olivia Jones (Alexandria, Va./West Potomac) canned triples on back-to-back possessions to open up a 58-50 lead with 4:26 remaining. A Julia Kowalski 3-pointer closed the deficit to two in the waning seconds before Rapel sealed the win with a free throw in the final second.
