LANCASTER, Pa. – Eleven members of the Gettysburg women's swimming team have been named to the All-Centennial Conference (CC) team by virtue of their finishes at the championship on Feb. 20-23.
Ava Berry (Raleigh, N.C./Sanderson),
Mia Morreale (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn),
Olivia Pyott (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) and
Mia Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) earned first-team honors. Berry, Morreale, Pyott, Yancey,
Ava Collin (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga),
Audrey Csokmay (Potomac, Md./Richard Montgomery),
Bramley Hawkins (Camp Hill, Pa./Camp Hill),
Maya Knoller (Bernardsville, N.J./Newark Academy),
Valerie Lawton (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury),
Lanie McKenzie (Wilmington, Del./Charter School of Wilmington), and
Delaney Reck (Pawcatuck, Conn./Stonington) earned second-team accolades while Berry, Morreale, Pyott, Reck and Yancey were honorable mention.
Berry brought home one of each medal in individual events at the championship. She claimed gold in the 1650 free on Sunday night with an NCAA B-Cut time of 17:14.33. On Saturday night, she claimed silver in the 400 IM, bettering her program-record and NCAA B-Cut time of 4:28.63. Her individual program started with a bronze in the 500 free for the second straight year, posting a time of 5:02.01.
Morreale grabbed an individual gold and individual bronze in the backstroke events. On Sunday night, she was golden, bettering her program record with an NCAA B-Cut time of 2:02.79 in the 200 back. On Saturday night, she earned bronze in the 100 back with a time of 57.11 seconds.
Pyott had the same weekend as Morreale, just in the breaststroke events. She won the 200 breaststroke on Sunday night with an NCAA B-Cut time of 2:19.72 one night after taking bronze in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.15).
Yancey rounded out the gold medals, touching first in the 200 free on Saturday night with an NCAA B-Cut time of 1:51.79. She also grabbed two bronze medals, finishing third in the 200 IM on Friday with a time of 2:06.34 and 100 free on Sunday with a time of 51.60 seconds.
McKenzie earned a pair of individual silver medals. On Friday night, she claimed silver in the 200 IM with an NCAA B-Cut time of 2:05.15. In the 200 backstroke on Sunday night, she finished as runner-up to her teammate with a time of 2:04.36.
Reck brought home an individual silver and individual bronze. On Saturday, she was second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 56.88 seconds one night after placing third in the 50 free with a time of 23.89 seconds.
All five relays finished second to add five more silver medals to the weekend count.
Csokmay, Knoller, Hawkins and Lawton led off the weekend with an NCAA B-Cut time of 1:44.19 in the 200 medley relay.
Collin, Berry, Yancey and McKenzie made it two relay silvers on Thursday with a program-record time of 7:34.48 to hit the NCAA B-Cut mark.
Morreale, Pyott, Hawkins and Yancey closed out Friday night with a silver in the 400 medley relay with a program-record and NCAA B-Cut time of 3:49.73.
Reck, Knoller, Lawton and Yancey opened Saturday night with yet another relay record and B-Cut, finishing second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:33.56.
Yancey, Lawton, Morreale and Collin the closed the meet on Sunday night with an NCAA B-Cut time of 3:27.29 for silver in the 400 free relay.
Berry, Collin, Knoller, Lawton, McKenzie, Morreale, Reck and Yancey will all swim at the NCAA Div. III championship meet because of the B-Cut times swam at the conference championship.
