THE SKINNY STORY
Gettysburg scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to break a 2-all deadlock and defeat Thiel 5-3 to remain undefeated on the season.
THE LEADERS

Will Roche (Milton, Mass./Boston College H.S.) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI to lead the Bullets.

Michael Fischetti (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) had a pinch-hit two-run home run in the decisive eighth inning.

• Colton Brightwell led the Bobcats with three hits and two RBIs.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Ethan Bintrim singled up the middle with one out in the bottom of the first before taking second on a wild pitch, third on a passed ball and scoring on a Nathan Prunty RBI groundout for a 1-0 lead.

Robert Murphy (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Gov. Livingston) led off the third with a single before
Jack Burke (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) after a fielder's choice put runners at the corners,
Jack Pistner (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) doubled home Murphy before a
Will Stellato (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) sacrifice fly plated
Adam Hicks (Edgewater, Md./Gilman School) for a 2-1 lead.
• Max Bihler was hit by a pitch to start the home eighth before back-to-back sacrifice bunts moved him to third. A Colton Brightwell flare to shallow center tied the game with two outs.
• In the top of the eighth,
Hunter Del Guercio (Millstone, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy) singled to left. Pinch-runner
Henry Smith (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) stole second before scoring the go-ahead run on a
Will Roche single up the middle. Called on to pinch hit,
Michael Fischetti sent a 1-0 pitch high over the right-field fence for a two-run home run and 5-2 lead.
• An Aidan Ochs leadoff infield single and two-base throwing error had a runner at third with no outs. Brightwell followed with a bouncing ball up the middle to cut the margin to 5-3 but a flyout and game-ending double play gave
Tyler Lizell (Upper Dublin, Pa./Upper Dublin) his 11th career save to set the program record for saves in a career.
THE INSIDE STORY
•
John Francesconi (Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) threw seven strong innings, striking out a career-high eight batters. He did not issue a walk and scattered five hits, allowing just one earned run.
